On Behalf of the Safety Institute of Australia, we invite you to join us for the 2018 National Health & Safety Conference Dinner on Wednesday 23 May 2018 from 6.00 to 10.00 pm.
The Conference Dinner is an excellent way to strengthen your links with colleagues, peers and industry professionals while discussing the topical issues surrounding OHS in Australia.
Come join our guest speaker, Tony Smith OAM, Chair, Advisory Panel Risk & Safety Adviser and Operation Reef Defence (Stop Adani) Campaign Lead, Sea Shepherd Australia.
Tony Smith has had a career in health and safety. In recent years, he took the role of heading up the national advisory board of Sea Shepherd Australia, taking over from the inaugural chair Bob Brown.
Although Sea Shepherd Australia's strength – like many organisations – is built around its volunteers, it is unique in many ways. For many years Sea Shepherd Australia has been sending ships crewed by passionate activist volunteers deep into the Southern Ocean in extraordinary conditions. They take on vastly larger Japanese whaling ships, in confrontations which have on occasions involved the management of extraordinary risks. For the 9 months these young volunteers are not at sea, their safety, health and wellbeing are an ongoing issue that Tony has lent his many years’ experience to.
